About this Course
This is an Accredited Course by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at MQF/EQF Level 5, with 8 ECTS. This advanced course will give students a deeper insight into the skills and techniques required to become a professional Makeup Artist and to start a career as a freelancer. Throughout this course, students will have the opportunity to work with a vast range of prestigious makeup brands. As part of the course package, students will be given a full set of professional makeup brushes and a starter kit containing products from various elite brands. Towards the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to work on a photoshoot with a professional photographer, to kickstart their professional makeup portfolio.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be better able to:
- Understand the skin types and skin conditions
- Practice health and safety measures whilst applying makeup
- Create the perfect complexion
- Understand face shapes and the application of contouring and highlighting
- Master the colour-wheel in makeup application
- Identify different eye shapes and how corrective eye makeup is applied
- Apply false lashes
- Know the different styles of period makeup and how it can be applied today
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a professional makeup artist
- Understand the application techniques of different looks
- Understand the art of fashion and and photography makeup
- Build a professional portfolio
- Maintain professionalism while applying makeup
- Bring out their creativity as a makeup artist
Awarding Body
This qualification is awarded by FRANKS Makeup Academy. This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this Award in Advanced Makeup Artistry to be at MQF/EQF Level 5 with 8 ECTS in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold:
- English O Level or equivalent OR
- In possession of an MQF Level 4 in Beauty /Makeup or equivalent OR
- Foundation program course in Makeup OR
- 2 Years experience in the beauty industry
If an applicant does not meet the above entry requirements, you are encouraged to contact the Academy for an interview.
Assessment Mode
A variety of assessments will take place during and after the course, including:
- Tutor Observations
- Oral Questions
- Assignments on practical sessions
- Research and self-study
- Creating a portfolio of evidence
Grading: The assignment questions will be corrected and students must achieve a pass mark of at least 50 marks, in order to be given a certification.
Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode
This programme will be delivered in English and as a face to face course at our campus in Qormi.
