About this Course

This is an Accredited Course by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at MQF/EQF Level 7, with 8 ECTS.

The Award in International Marketing  provides students with an in-depth understanding of the global marketplace, international marketing strategies and their applications. The course explores the complexities of global marketing and aims to develop students’ skills in creating and executing effective marketing plans in diverse international markets. The course will cover topics such as global market research, cultural differences in consumer behaviour, global branding and pricing and market entry strategies. Students will be provided with the tools to become adaptable, culturally sensitive and masters of global marketing trends and techniques.

By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • Master multidisciplinary theoretical and practical concepts and theories of international marketing in the global marketplace
  • Critically evaluate the different international marketing strategies and tools used to enter and compete in global markets
  • Critically analyse the impact of cross-cultural, social, economic and political factors on international marketing decisions and strategies
  • Critically analyse the issues involved in the development and management of new products, how to manage product lines, and how to measure, develop and manage the product lines’ contribution to a brand’s equity on an international level
  • Critically analyse the marketing function and its role in creating organisational success in both commercial and non-commercial settings
  • Critically evaluate international marketing challenges by applying insights into strategic and operational decision-making for businesses
  • Meticulously assess the risks and opportunities of different market entry strategies, including exporting, licensing, joint ventures and foreign direct investment
  • Master multidisciplinary knowledge of the role of branding, advertising and digital marketing in global marketing campaigns and their effectiveness in different cultural contexts
  • Critically analyse the ethical and sustainability issues related to international marketing, including the impact of marketing on societies and the environment
  • Master multidisciplinary skills in effective communication and leadership in order to work in cross-cultural teams and manage international marketing projects
  • Meticulously communicate and apply knowledge of audience segmentation and targeting platforms in an international context

Awarding Body

This qualification is awarded by Ascencia Malta. This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this Award in International Marketing to be at MQF/EQF Level 7 with 8 ECTS in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

Entry Requirements

Students who have no training in the field must have completed a bachelor’s in a relevant subject or have completed an MQF Level 6 qualification. However, students’ circumstances and experiences may also be considered during the application process—five years of relevant working experience in the industry of specialization. Kindly view our RPL (recognition of prior learning) previously approved by the MFHEA policy in Appendix A.

Similarly, students applying for the course need to be fluent in English since the course is taught in English. Therefore, proof of B2 level of English should be provided by the students upon application – IELTS level/grade 6 or the student’s country equivalent.

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in business, administration, commerce, sciences, finance, management, human resources, retail or a related field
  • Minimum 180 ECTS at MQF Level 6 previously acquired at a Higher Education institution • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in a business environment will be considered as an asset

Assessment Mode

For this module, each student will be required to prepare an individual assignment of 3500 words. Students will be given a case study scenario of an organisation that is requirng them to prepare a marketing campaign for a product that they wish to take internationally. Marks will be given as follows: 10% Presentation of the assignment and correct use of references 90% Business report

Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode

This programme will be delivered in English in our Campus in Floriana. The course will be delivered through a flexible combination of modern face-to-face lectures, webinars, seminars and discussion forums, tutorials, group work, case studies, guest speakers, organisational visits and independent study.
