About this Course
This is an non-Accredited Course by Rosemarie Abela’s Fashion Studio.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your sewing skills, this course is designed to equip you with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience you need to start creating your own beautiful garments and accessories. From Basic Sewing Machine Knowledge to sewing your first cushion cover you will learn the step-by-step processes of creating and finishing a product.
Target Audience
Applicants with no prior experience:
- The target audience is mainly individuals who have no knowledge or experience in sewing and wish to kick off a learning process to eventually pursue a career in fashion or as a hobby.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Thread and use their own sewing machines.
- Identify common sewing machine mishaps and possible solutions.
- Sew hems both by hand and by machine.
- Learn about the use of seams and the different types.
- Learn how to eliminate fullness in curves by sewing darts.
- Experience using an overlock and sew finishing techniques.
- Sew a zipper and create a cushion cover.
Awarding Body
This certificate of attendance is awarded by Rosemarie Abela Fashion Studio.
Entry Requirements
Considering the practical nature of the skills, no academic qualifications are requested to join this programme, however, applicants are expected to:
- be able to communicate in Maltese or English.
- have and bring their own sewing machine and sewing tools.
If an applicant does not meet the above entry requirements, you are encouraged to contact the Academy for an interview.
Assessment Mode
The programme is 9 hours long and includes a practical assessment during the final week.
Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode
This programme will be delivered in English in our Fashion Studio in Qormi.
