About this Course
This is an Accredited Course by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at MQF/EQF Level 6, with 240 ECTS. The aims of this BSc Degree program is to provide the knowledge of how to use and combine powerful multimedia platforms and animation techniques to implement the designer’s vision into complex virtual realities.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the BSc Degree in Game Design & Development programme, the learner will be able to:
- be proficient with real-time C++ Programming Language
- design and implement real-time networking for Games
- understand real-time polygonal video Graphics
- design and implement a real-time Game Engine
- develop software projects in a local and global environment.
- understand fundamentals of computer science
- participate in the game development process from initial concept to finished product
Awarding Body
This qualification is awarded by American University of Malta (AUM). This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this BSc Degree in Game Design & Development to be at MQF/EQF Level 5 with 240 ECTS in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should :
- Complete the application as necessary
- Submit official transcripts showing that the student will have successfully completed a course of study of MQF level 4 (e.g. US or international high school or equivalent course of study) by the time he or she enrols at AUM.
- Submit High school or MQF level 5 course of study GPA (minimum GPA required 2.5 out of 4.0) documents
- Provide a personal essay, addressing personal goals and expectations.
- Provide scores on standardised test (ACT and/or SAT). AUM may consider eliminating this requirement moving forward, once a substantial body of faculty has been established.

Assessment Mode
Assignments and reports, group projects, and portfolios, presentations, case studies, examinations and a business research project at the end. In order to successfully complete the course a minimum of a pass must be obtained in the assessment of each Module.
Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode
This programme will be delivered in English at the AUM Campus in Bormla (Cospicua). The BSc Degree in Game Design & Development is delivered through a combination of seminars and work-based learning.
