About this Course
This is an Accredited Course by the Malta Further & Higher Education Authority (MFHEA), at MQF/EQF Level 5, with 120 ECTS.
This programme allows learners to become knowledgeable and skilful within the field of accountancy and finance. The programme shall reflect the main components of management with special attention on finance and accounting, together with other important business elements such as operations, marketing, human resources, and customer relationship management.
The core modules of this programme allow learners to analyse and assess various financial problems and opportunities within a business environment and use tools which are applicable to different organisations and different industries and sectors.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the learner will be able to:
- Critically reflect on various departments and their functions within an organisation with special attention on the finance department
- Critically analyse having effective organisational structures and culture at the place of work
- Assess and discuss the importance of having good leadership styles and techniques within organisations
- Critically assess the importance of effective financial, human resources, marketing, strategy, and operations department within organisations
- Identify the importance of effective teamwork to ensure organisational success
- Identify the importance of strategy and strategic goals in organisations
- Reflect on the importance of investment and risk management in finance
- Identify the role of financing and accounting within organisations
- Reflect on the importance of financial planning and control within organisations
- Assess the importance of financial reporting
Skills
The learner will be able to:
- Practice effective decision making and problem solving when dealing with problems at the place of work
- Use various management tools which are applicable to various areas within management including SWOT, PESTLE, Porter’s Five Forces, and others
- Use critical thinking to be able to deal effectively with issues and challenges faced by organisations
- Communicate effectively with different stakeholders within a tourism organisation, both internal and external
- Practice the management cycle in an effective manner within an organisation
- Practice financial planning and control within organisations
- Assess the importance of financial reporting
Target Audience
Individuals aspiring an accountancy and financial position within an organisation. Learners who have successfully acquired this qualification, shall be able to apply within the fields of finance, holding junior and intermediate positions such as:
- Accounts Clerk / Executive / Bookkeeper
- Finance Executive
- Assistant Financial Controller
- Management Accountant
- Financial / Budget Analyst
- Internal / External Auditor
Learners shall have the opportunity to further their studies by following a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration or a BA in Accountancy & Finance (both offered by eie European Business School).
This programme does not lead to a regulated or warranted profession.
Awarding Body
This qualification is awarded by eie European Business School. This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. The MFHEA deems this Higher Diploma in Accountancy and Finance to be at MQF/EQF Level 5 with 120 ECTS in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be in possession of a minimum:
(a) Matriculation certification (MQF level 4) full qualification (or an equivalent qualification)
OR
(b) Diploma in Accountancy/Finance/Business Management at MQF/EQF Level 4 full qualification or an equivalent qualification
AND
Proficient in English and in possession of IELTS 6.5 or higher (or an equivalent English qualification – if unavailable, students may apply for our English for Academic Purposes Course)

Assessment Mode
This programme exposes learners to various assessment methods including summative and formative approaches including individual assignments, examinations, group power point presentations and individual PowerPoint presentations.
Group and individual presentations are used to analyse the communication skills acquired by the learners as well as effective teamwork skills. Moreover, this programme also includes classroom-based assessments and reflective journal which allows the tutor to effectively analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the learners, as well as allows the same learner to further work on their strengths and weaknesses.
This will ensure student autonomy as well as allows tutors to support students according to their requirements.
Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode
This programme will be delivered in English in our Campus in St. Julian’s.
The course will be delivered through a flexible combination of modern face-to-face lectures, webinars, seminars and discussion forums, tutorials, group work, case studies, guest speakers, organisational visits and independent study.
The course is also available as an Online Mode.
