Hey there, I’m Alfie Gatt, a professional artist with a passion for watercolors that I discovered back in college and haven’t stopped exploring since. I love the expressive nature of watercolors—you can go from loose to detailed, illustrative to realism, and play with small to large formats. It’s a vast and fun world!

I’m excited to share my techniques with you so that you can dive into this medium and create your own masterpiece. Let’s explore the art of watercolour techniques together!

Entry Requirements

Considering the practical nature of the skills, no academic qualifications are requested to join this programme, however, applicants are expected to:

  • be able to communicate in Maltese or English.
  • be 16 years of age or older

As for materials, you need to bring:

    • A Watercolour Pad 300gsm (A4 or A3)
    • A Watercolour Set (tubes or pans, your choice)
    • Three different watercolour brushes (one round, one flat, and one pointy),
    • Pencils, sharpener, eraser and ruler
    • Ink pen or a fountain pen with waterproof ink

If an applicant does not meet the above entry requirements, you are encouraged to contact the Academy for an interview.

Assessment Mode

In the Watercolours Beginners Course, we prioritize a supportive learning environment, offering continuous guidance from the tutor rather than a final assessment, ensuring a focus on ongoing improvement and skill enhancement.

Language of Instruction & Delivery Mode

Courses may be given in Maltese or English dependent on course participants. The course will be held at 18 Triq San Girgor, Iz-Zejtun from 2nd February 2024, every Friday for 8 weeks; 17:00 – 19:00.
